  Do you like old cars?

  every year, in my town, there's an expostion of old cars.

  I have an old silver Jag - 4 litre engine. Lots of work needing done but will be worth it. Had an old Granada 3 litre Ghia 1973 - modern cars have no character.

  How many of you gave up a college scholarship?

  how many of you gave up a college scholarship to appear "spiritual"?

  jt's thread about "homegrown lawyers" and the wtbs willingly sending certain ones to college started me thinking about that question.

  i know i for one, relinquished that scholarship to show how "spiritual" i was at 18. .

  Have you thought about studying via the open university? You could work and combine your studies. Also, a lot of universities now offer a lot of part -time courses especially in the business and management field.

  The days of the traditional student are now gone. Now the case is a lot of HE institutions have had to become much more flexible to accomodate non traditional learners - i.e those over 21 who can't attend full time on a day basis.

  Final point - a lot of the most wealthiest and successful people in the world have never set foot in a university! Bits of paper aren't the be all and end all.

  YESTERDAY'S ASSEMBLY SUCKED........

  well, i got dragged, kicking and screaming talked in to going to the assembly yesterday as a friend of mine was in the drama.

  what a freaking waste of time interesting experience.

  first of all, i had a tough time squeezing my larger than life ass bum into a seat that looked like it was made for a house-elf small child.

  Brilliant post - can't stop laughing! Assemblies were always boring torture for me. I remember sneaking out and heading for the local shopping centre - luckily enough the convention centre was near a large town.

  Imagine my surprise when I spotted several apparently upstanding young JWs with the same idea as me.....

  Sports and JW's (allowing kids to play)

  what are people's experiences here of jw's who let their kids play sports and the consequences for them?.

  for instance did you know any kids who played little league or high school football or basketball?.

  any canadiens who allowed their children to play hockey at any of the levels?.

  This isn't really about sports but it reminded of my experiences in the school orchestra.

  So, the time came for the annual concert, which of course happened at Christmas time. Part of the programme was a medley of Christmas carols. I will never forget sitting on the stage pretending to play my instrument during a performance of these carols, thinking that any note I blew was ruining my chances of the wonderful paradise earth!

  Encouragement to get back to the meetings

  i keep getting these forwards from certain ones who i knew in the org.

  they know i have left because i was "discouraged".

  they are keeping their distance by not writing to me anything personal, but keep sending these "encouraging" forwards in hopes that i'll be re-awakened, dust off the book bag and head on back to the old kh.
